Indigenous Forum on Water and Peace

Developed as a partnership between indigenous peoples' organizations, universities, and non-governmental organizations, the Indigenous Forum on Water and Peace brings together indigenous leaders and academics in a common vision: to protect the world's water for future generations. Its projects include the development of a global forum that will gather traditional indigenous knowledge keepers and spiritual leaders to address sustainable water practices and conflicts over water as these issues relate to the Millennium Development Goals on poverty, disease, and child mortality. The coalition also works for community capacity-building in water accessibility, infrastructure, and innovation. Its members hope to strengthen indigenous voices in matters of water and development policy and strategy on a global level.
