USCCB Buddhist and Catholic Dialogue
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) currently has no active dialogue initiative with Buddhist organizations, though it continues to participate in and support local and regional initiatives. From 2003 to 2009 USCCB partnered with the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association, the San Francisco Zen Center, and Great Vow Zen Monastery to sponsor the Northern California Ch'an/Zen Buddhist-Catholic Dialogue. The dialogue brought together Buddhists and Catholics on the West Coast to learn more about each other and identify areas of mutual enrichment. Participants discussed topics like transformational practice, traveling a spiritual path, and living out spiritual commitments in everyday life.
