Islam and Secularism

The Islam and Secularism Project is an investigation of religious integration of Muslims in Europe and the United States. The project systematically explores topics of religious integration of Muslims in European secular cultures, including their political participation and civic engagement; the securitization of religion; and terrorism and counter-terrorism efforts. Project findings are accessible at, a website that was created in 2005 with a grant from the European Commission and has since become a clearinghouse for information and research on Islam and Muslims in Western Europe, the United States, and Canada.
