Family and Sexuality

With families forming the backbone of its communities, the Catholic Church has been a vocal proponent of the traditional family and healthy boundaries on sexual activities. Though its more controversial stances against abortion, same-sex marriage, contraceptives, and euthanasia are well known, the Church has also critiqued the high rates of divorce and the hook-up culture among youths in modern Western societies. Advocating the importance of the stable family at the heart of civil society, as well as proper, respectful, and meaningful relationships between men and women, the Catholic Church has attempted a defense of the family with both Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
