Resources on Faith, Ethics and Public Life

Sub-Saharan Africa

Africa is broadly a very religious and religiously pluralistic region, and religion continues to strongly impact society, particularly with increased diversity through global migration. As such, development actors engaging in work in Africa must show increased sensitivity to the role of religion in the organizations and societies involved, though secular perspectives often limit engagement with faith-inspired actors. Further coordination and collaboration might enhance the penetration and the expanse of development work. These resources highlight ongoing faith-inspired development action in Africa through related essays, organizations, programs, events, and publications. The resources are part of an ongoing initiative focused on religion and global development sponsored by the Luce Foundation.
