United States and Canada
The United States and Canada are home to a number of faith-inspired organizations and initiatives active domestically and internationally. In recent years, the government has made more of an effort to recognize and coordinate the contributions of faith-inspired actors, but there is still much to be known about this group of development actors. Although predominantly Christian, the diversity of active faith-inspired initiatives are reflective of the regions’ domestic religious diversity, incorporating Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, and Buddhist actors. These countries' faith-inspired initiatives in international development cross sectors—education, health care, gender, humanitarian relief, microfinance, and the environment—and regional foci. The resources found on this page highlight prominent organizations, publications, events, and other material relevant to faith-based development work conducted by development actors based in the United States and Canada. The resources are part of an ongoing initiative focused on religion and global development sponsored by the Luce Foundation.
