Forming Ignatian Leaders in Malawi

In May and June of 2019, Isaac Kim (SFS'20) conducted research at Loyola Jesuit Secondary School (LJSS), a grant-aided secondary school located in Kasungu, Malawi, through the Education and Social Justice Fellowship, a joint project of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching, and Service at Georgetown University. Kim conducted interviews, focus groups, and observed daily life at the school. His research focuses on community building as a form of Catholic inculturation at the school and the formation of Ignatian leaders through the Jesuit educational experience.
