International Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum

In 2015, a new initiative was created to internationalize the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, called the International Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum (IHEILF). IHEILF was a partnership between four groups: colleges and universities, led by Georgetown University; seminaries, led by Hartford Seminary; government partners such as the White House, Department of Education, State Department, and USAID; and foundations, led by the International Shinto Foundation. In 2015 and 2016 the program brought together international representatives in higher education to focus on the development of interfaith leadership formation and share experiences and promising practices across countries. The program effort honored religious pluralism, advanced religious literacy, and fostered interreligious understanding and cooperation.
