Georgetown University hosted one of the very first screenings of the film Rebirth, created and directed by Jim Whitaker, a distinguished alumnus from the Georgetown College class of 1990.
At the heart of Project Rebirth is a feature length documentary chronicling the strength of the human spirit coping with disaster: the aftermath of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. Since 2002, Rebirth's 14 35mm film time-lapse cameras have recorded the minute by minute redevelopment of Ground Zero, and Whitaker has conducted annual interviews with, and followed the journeys of, nine people over the years following 9/11.
