Ian Christopher Levy, a professor of Historical Theology at Providence College, is a scholar of medieval Christian thought. His research interests are medieval biblical exegesis, sacraments, and ecclesiology, with a particular focus on the role of authority and tradition in the determination of Catholic doctrine. His publications include, among others, Holy Scripture and the Quest for Authority at the End of the Middle Ages (2012), The Bible in Medieval Tradition: The Letter to the Galatians (2011), A Companion to the Eucharist in the Middle Ages (2011, co-edited with Gary Macy and Kristen van Ausdall), A Companion to John Wyclif: Late Medieval Theologian (2006/2011, as editor), and John Wyclif: Scriptural Logic, Real Presence, and the Parameters of Orthodoxy (2003). Levy was also a part of the Christianity and Freedom Project headed by the Berkley Center's Religious Freedom Project.
