Rodrigo Adem is an assistant professor in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University. As an intellectual historian of the premodern Middle East, his research encompasses early Islamic thought in its diverse doctrinal manifestations and regional forms, and it is dedicated to an intimate engagement with the textual sources of classical Islam, with an emphasis on epistemology, hermeneutics, historiography, and the construction of scholarly authority. He co-leads the Theology in Arabic seminar series, co-sponsored by the Berkley Center and the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies.
