Veena O’Sullivan is the head of the HIV and Sexual Violence Unit of Tearfund, UK. Her experience in the development sector spans over 19 years, and she has worked in over 20 countries globally in the last 14 years with Tearfund. As the architect of Tearfund’s HIV and Sexual Violence response she has been able to build Tearfund into an organization with credibility in these areas. In her current role, she leads a team of technical experts and program managers on evidence-based response to sexual violence in eight countries across Africa and is leading Tearfund’s sexual violence response globally. She is currently based in Durban, South Africa and leads the development of a survivor-led movement in Kwa-Zulu Natal; she is also engaging faith leaders partnering with key stakeholders such as UNAIDS, UN-Women, UNFPA, Sonke Gender Justice, and others.
