Talene Bilazarian

A sophomore majoring in Political Science at Johns Hopkins University, Talene Bilazarian hails from Andover, Massachusetts. The mix of her conservative upbringing and her exposure to liberal politics has shaped her ability to engage with people of diverse opinions. She attended the 2004 and 2008 Democratic National Conventions and worked in the press office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy. She has also lobbied Congress for recognition of the Armenian Genocide. This year, she is doing research on several London-based Islamic feminist movements as the recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Undergraduate Research Fellowship, and will be traveling to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Israel this summer as a selected Fellow of the Ibrahim Leadership and Dialogue Project. Though accomplished in the classroom, her favorite undergraduate experience thus far has been tutoring inmates at the Baltimore Women’s Prison. In 2012 she was a Millennial Values Fellow in conjunction with the Berkley Center's project on young Americans, faith, and values.
