In March 2017, WFDD and the Hewlett Foundation supported the efforts of the Cadre des Religieux pour la Santé et le Développement (CRSD), a Senegalese interfaith association, to conduct a midline monitoring and evaluation (M&E) program. Since 2014, the Muslim and Christian religious leaders that compose CRSD have been working to promote maternal and child health by encouraging family planning in line with religious teachings. The midline M&E involved qualitative focus groups with married individuals and interviews with religious leaders to better understand if and how religious beliefs influence perceptions of family planning. This document contains excerpts from the focus group discussions and interviews with religious leaders that reveal the diverse perspectives held on family planning in Senegal.
