World Sports Values Summit for Peace 2013
From July 17-19, 2013, the World Sports Values Summit for Peace brought together young athletes, leaders, and academics in Tokyo, Japan for forward-looking and rigorous conversations about the values that the world of sport can advance. The summit, under the auspices of the Governor of Tokyo and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, was supported by the International Sports Promotion Society, Worldwide Support for Development, and World Faiths Development Dialogue, housed at Georgetown University. It emphasized the key principles of Respect, Excellence, and Friendship drawn from the Olympic tradition while emphasizing their alignment with Japanese cultural values.
