Developing New Approaches to Respond to the Needs of Faith Communities

December 14, 2018

Since 2014, WFDD has supported the Cadre des Religieux pour la Santé et le Développement (CRSD), a Senegalese interfaith association that promotes family planning in accordance with religious teachings. In recognition of the diversity of views among faith communities on family planning, WFDD has helped its partners to develop several approaches that allow faith leaders in Senegal to tailor activities to the specific needs of their communities. The poster highlights several of these initiatives, which include integrating education and training on family planning into events already scheduled within faith communities and efforts to more strategically engage faith leaders and communities to play an active role in promoting family planning. The poster was presented at the annual Ouagadougou Partnership conference in Dakar, Senegal in December 2018 by WFDD Executive Director Katherine Marshall and CRSD President Sheikh Saliou Mbacké.
