Conflict to Peace: Innovative Approaches to Peacebuilding

'From Conflict to Peace: Innovative Approaches to Peacebuilding' is a major international conference led by the Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution program and the Office of the President of Georgetown University being held September 7-9, 2011. The event will serve as an intellectual gathering of students, faculty, and practitioners in the field of conflict resolution. The Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs sponsored the "From Conflict to Peace" student essay contest, which received 45 submissions from across the United States. A faculty panel from the Berkley Center evaluated the student essays, and is recognizing the top three with cash prizes.

First Place: Monica Curca, Brandeis University, From Conflict to Peace: Innovative Approaches to Peacebuilding.
Second Place: Shea Houlihan, Georgetown University, As Good As It Can Be: Peacebuilding in the Arab-Israeli Conflict.
Third Place: Mario Villamor, New York University, The Spratley Islands.
