Anger at corruption is a leading grievance in Washington, D.C., and in many other regions across the country and the globe. It fuels both populism and angry extremism. Professor Robert Klitgaard has grappled with the issue for many years, as a scholar—Corruption Across Countries and Cultures (2017) is among his many works on the topic—and a practitioner. He has worked on the issues in over 35 countries, often at the most senior government levels. The center invited colleagues to a brainstorming-style meeting to explore what has been achieved and what still remains to be done.
