Religious Leaders as Peace Builders

January 30, 2012-February 3, 2012

The twenty-third annual International Military Chiefs of Chaplains Conference in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, included the Berkley Center's Eric Patterson as the featured speaker and leader of three panels. The conference theme was "Religious Leaders as Peacebuilders," and Patterson used abbreviated versions of the Berkley Center's religion and conflict case studies (Iraq, Mindanao, Mozambique) to lead discussions on the role of chaplains as peace builders. He also spoke on trends in religion in world affairs and new trends in conflict resolution studies.

The conference, hosted by the chaplaincy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was supported in part by the US European Command Chaplains office, which consulted with Patterson and the Berkley Center on the conference agenda.
