Rev. Adama Faye is a pastor in the Lutheran Church of Senegal. He also serves as the vice president of the Lutheran Church in Senegal and as the head of its Department of Social Action. Raised as a Muslim, he attended both Muslim and Catholic schools before converting to Christianity as a teenager. Rev. Faye holds a master’s degree in Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations from St. Paul’s University in Lumuru, Kenya; he also studied theology at the West African Protestant University of Porto-Novo and sociology at Cheikh Anta Diop University. His training was supported by the Lutheran World Federation and the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa. He is a member of a Senegalese working group of religious leaders promoting maternal and child health.
