Ali S. is a peer tutor and student studying English at the diploma level at the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Higher Education Center in Amman, Jordan, where he is pursuing a diploma of liberal studies through Jesuit Commons: Higher Education at the Margins. Originally from Sudan, he fled the violence in Darfur and completed his high school education in Khartoum. He arrived in Amman in December 2012 and began studying English at the JRS Center in 2013. As a peer tutor, Ali S. oversees class materials, grades papers, and facilitates class discussions.
