Andrea Santos works with the National Alliance of Indigenous Women’s Organizations for Health, Education, and Nutrition (Alianza Nacional de Organizaciones de Mujeres Indígenas para la Salud, Educación, y Nutrición, ALIANMISAR). ALIANMISAR supports indigenous women in the areas of health, education, and nutrition, and it works in eight departments of Guatemala: Totonicapán, Quetzaltenango, San Marcos, Huehuetenango, Quiché, Sololá, Chimaltenango, and Alta Verapaz. Santos grew up in the Esperanza municipality in the department of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and was the first woman in her family to pursue higher education. Santos is studying for a university degree in economics.
