Rabbi Arthur Schneier has led New York's Park East Synagogue since 1962 and has been president of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation since founding it in 1965. He has won numerous awards for his work promoting religious freedom and human rights, including the Presidential Citizens Medal. He was a member of the UN Alliance of Civilizations' High-level Group.
