Azza Karam

Profile
Azza Karam is president and CEO of Lead Integrity, the first global, women-of-faith-led consultancy with a Roster of Experts in human rights, peace and security, sustainable development and humanitarian relief, from over 50 countries. She serves as the director of Occidental College's flagship Kahane United Nations Program. She is a member of the United Nations' Secretary-General High Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism. During three decades of work in and with the United Nations, she coordinated UNDP’s Arab Human Development Reports and founded and led the United Nations Interagency Task Force on Religion and Development, as well as its Multi-Faith Advisory Council. She was professor of religion and development at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and has penned multiple publications translated into several languages. Egyptian-born, she has worked in Africa, the Arab world, and Europe; she lives in the United States. Karam is a a member of the Strategic Religious Engagement Hub Advisory Board, an initiative hosted by the Georgetown University Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, and a member of the Working Group on Child Rights and Family Values, part of the Culture of Encounter Project.
