El Hadji Baye Lamine Niass is a member of the Niassene family of the Tijaniyya confrérie (brotherhood) in Senegal. Through his religious family, he is involved in local and community development, with a focus on education and health. He also serves as the honorary president of the Mame Astou Diankha Association, which is a local organization focused on community development and builds upon the work of the Niassene family. He is a member of a Senegalese working group of religious leaders promoting maternal and child health. He studied the Qur’an through his family, and he completed his education at university, where he studied accounting.
