Bou
Mouhamed Kounta, known as Bou Khalifa Kounta, is a member of the Kounta family of the Qadiriyya Sufi order. He studied
in the daaras [Qur’anic schools] in
Senegal before completing his secondary studies in Fez, Morocco. After high
school, he studied law at Cadi Ayyad University in
Marrakesh. Upon returning to Senegal, he began his career as an Arabic teacher.
Kounta is very engaged in the Qadiriyya order and serves as a spokesperson for
the Khalifa. He is also active in interfaith work through his engagement with
the Cadre des Religieux pour la Santé et
le Développement (Association of Religious Leaders for Health and
Development).
