Chérif Mohamed el Moctar Sy is a member of the Omarien family of the Tidiane order in Senegal and is also the second imam at the main Omarien mosque in Dakar. He studied in Libya and holds a degree in modern law. He has worked as a coordinator at the World Islamic Call Society in Senegal, working to monitor and improve Qur’anic school quality. He also hosts a radio and television show, where he addresses key topics in Islam. Since 2014, he has been an active member of the Cadre des Religieux pour la Santé et le Développement (CRSD, Group of Religious Leaders for Health and Development), a Senegalese interfaith association composed of religious leaders. In his work with CRSD, he focuses primarily on promoting maternal and child health in accordance with Islamic teachings.
