Chris Coons was elected to the 112th Congress as a senator of Delaware in November 2010. He was selected to serve on four committees: Foreign Relations, Judiciary, Energy, and Budget. In February 2011 he was named chair of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, the only freshman senator to be named to a subcommittee chair.
