David Buckley (G'13) is associate professor of political science and Paul Weber Endowed Chair in Politics, Science & Religion at the University of Louisville, where he serves as the director of the Center for Asian Democracy. He is the author of Protection at the Margins: How the Catholic Church Shielded Communities from Populist Violence in the Philippine Drug War (forthcoming 2026, with Steven Brooke); Blessing America First: Religion, Populism, and Foreign Policy in the Trump Administration (2024); and Faithful to Secularism: The Religious Politics of Democracy in Ireland, Senegal and the Philippines (2017).
