Rabbi David Rosen is international director of interreligious affairs for the American Jewish Committee and director of its Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding. He is also an honorary president of the International Council of Christians and Jews, an international president of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, and member of the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations. Rosen previously served Jewish congregations in Ireland, where he was chief rabbi, and South Africa, where he was founding chairman of the Cape Inter-Faith Forum, the Council of Jews, Christians and Muslims in South Africa. He also served in the Israeli Defense Force and was chaplain to Israeli forces in West Sinai. In November 2005, Rosen was named a papal Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great for his outstanding contributions to promoting Catholic-Jewish reconciliation. In addition, Rosen participated in the 2008 Alliance of Civilizations forum discussion on the role of religious actors in creating national security.
