David Tombs is the Howard Paterson Professor of Theology and Public Issues and director of the Centre for Theology and Public Issues at the University of Otago in New Zealand. His current research focuses on religion, violence, and public theology, and especially on Christian responses to gender-based violence, sexual abuse and torture.
