Debbie Ense is an early childhood education teacher with 20 years of experience working with children. She grew up in M’Chigeeng First Nation and currently lives in the community as a lay leader of the Diocesan Order of Service at the M’Chigeeng Church of Immaculate Conception. Ense helps to integrate traditional Aboriginal practices in the church services and proceedings. She recently transitioned from working at M’Chigeeng Daycare to the Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute’s Early Language Immersion program. Ense helps to incorporate aspects of Aboriginal culture and the Ojibwe language into early learning for children between the ages of 3 and 7 years old to teach students about their cultural identity and community.
