Derek Alderman is a professor of cultural and historical geography at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He specializes in race relations, public memory, popular culture, and heritage tourism in the southern United States. Alderman is the president of the American Association of Geographers and former editor of the Southeastern Geographer journal.
