Ed Scott is an experienced business executive and a former senior U.S. government official who has been involved with numerous philanthropic initiatives. Scott founded and was board chair of the Center for Global Development, the world’s leading think tank on global poverty and development issues, until 2014; he continues to serve on the board's executive committee. Along with Bill Gates and George Soros he co-founded DATA (Debt AIDS Trade Africa, now called ONE), dedicated to building awareness about development and health challenges in Africa. Scott also founded Friends of the Global Fight, which provides support in the United States for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. In 2008, Ed Scott established the Center for Interfaith Action on Global Poverty. Scott also established the Scott Family Fellows program, which provided the president of Liberia and Liberian cabinet ministers with a cadre of trained economists and development specialists as senior advisors.
