Edward K. Braxton, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Belleville, Illinois, is a leading voice in the Catholic Church on the racial divide in the United States and in the Church. A former member of the faculties of theology at Harvard Divinity School and scholar-in-residence at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, he earned his doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Louvain. His most recent book is The Church and the Racial Divide: Reflections of an African American Catholic Bishop (2021).
