Gloria
Kwashi is a Anglican Christian theologian in Jos, Nigeria, in
a region known as the Middle Belt that has been
marked by ethnic and religious tensions and has also suffered numerous bomb
attacks from militants. Together with her husband, Archbishop
Benjamin Kwashi, she works in mediation and peacebuilding
in the region; she has had her home burnt down and survived two assassination attempts. In 1980, Gloria Kwashi was the second woman to be admitted into the
Theological College of Northern Nigeria in Bukuru. Kwashi has
led revival meetings in Kenya, Uganda, and throughout Nigeria. In 1998, she was a
seminar leader at the Lambeth Conference, the global Anglican conference that
takes place every 10 years. She has also participated in conferences in Ghana, Ethiopia, Finland, Denmark, and the United States.
