Reverend Heng Cheng is the general secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of Cambodia (EFC), which represents approximately 80 percent of the evangelical churches in Cambodia. Though born a Christian, Heng spent much of his childhood living in a pagoda. He reconnected with his Christian roots after escaping to Vietnam during the Khmer Rouge regime, where he was ordained as a pastor before returning to Cambodia in 1985 to form his own church. Reverend Heng has been the general secretary of EFC since 1996.
