Hugh Goddard is an honorary professorial fellow and was the founding directer from 2009 to 2017 for the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to that he was a professor of Christian-Muslim relations in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies in the University of Nottingham. He is the author of, among others, Christians and Muslims: From Double Standards to Mutual Understanding (1995), Muslim Perceptions of Christianity (1996), and A History of Christian-Muslim Relations (2000). Goddard earned his doctorate from the Centre for the Study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
