James Corkery, S.J. is a professor of theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Born in Limerick, Ireland, he joined the Irish province of the Jesuits in 1972 and was ordained in 1984. He has studied in Ireland, Germany, and the United States, and was a lecturer at the Milltown Institute in Dublin for 20 years. His publications include The Papacy Since 1500: From Italian Prince to Universal Pastor (2010) and Joseph Ratzinger's Theological Ideas: Wise Cautions and Legitimate Hopes (2009).
