Jeffrey H. Mahan holds the Ralph E. and Norma E. Peck Chair in Religion and Public Communication at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado and is a resident fellow at the Center for Media, Religion and Culture at the University of Colorado Boulder. His academic interests focus on religious and theological engagements with both fine and popular film, literature, and television, as well as the emergence of digital culture and the forms of religion in it. He is the author of Media, Religion and Culture: An Introduction (2014), Religion and Popular Culture in America (expanded third edition, 2017, co-edited with Bruce David Forbes), and other works. He has presented his work at conferences in the United States and abroad. Mahan is ordained in the United Methodist Church and was previously a faculty member of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He holds a B.A. from Evergreen State College, M.Div. from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
