John Coffey is professor of history at the University of Leicester, England. He has recently edited The Oxford History of Protestant Dissenting Traditions: The Post-Reformation Era (2020). His books include Persecution and Toleration in Protestant England (2000) and Exodus and Liberation: Deliverance Politics from John Calvin to Martin Luther King Jr. (2014). He is also director of the Wilberforce Diaries Project.
