Jolyon Thomas is assistant professor of religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania. His research covers Japan and the United States with a focus on religion and media; religious freedom; religion and education; and religion and capitalism. Thomas is author of Drawing on Tradition: Manga, Anime, and Religion in Contemporary Japan (2012) and Faking Liberties: Religious Freedom in American-Occupied Japan (2019).
