Josefina Aleman Menjivar is a third, fourth, and fifth grade teacher at the public school in Bajio, Nueva Trinidad, Chalatenango in El Salvador. She was one of the first popular education students in the neighboring village of Carasque. At fifteen years old, she established a popular school in Bajio. Remaining there throughout her career, she helped to guide its transition into the state education system. She is currently an active member of the Bajio community. She also teaches religious confirmation and communion classes, trains catechism professors, and takes part in pastoral activities at the local Catholic church.
