Joshua Landis is director of the Center for Middle East Studies and an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma. He is also the former president of the Syrian Studies Association. Landis writes "Syria Comments,” a daily newsletter on Syrian politics that attracts over 200,000 readers a month. He is a frequent analyst on TV and radio programs, appearing most recently on the PBS News Hour, NPR, and the BBC. His work is often published in journals such as Foreign Policy and Middle East Policy, and he has done extensive consulting for US government agencies. Landis has received three Fulbright grants, an SSRC, and other prestigious grants to support his research. He holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College, a M.A. from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
