Joy Robertson graduated from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service in 2016 with a major in regional and comparative studies, focused on economic and human development in West Africa. Originally from Virginia, she now calls the Lone Star State home. While in Lyon, France during the fall 2014 semester, Joy studied African history and culture and politics, took courses in the social sciences, and blogged for the Junior Year Abroad Network. She enjoyed improving her French language skills and taking advantage of her time in the country's gastronomic capital.
