Dr. Kathryn Poethig is an associate professor in the Global Studies Department at California State University, Monterey Bay, where she has taught since 2003 and from 1998-2000. She taught at St. Lawrence University from 2000-02. Peothig is on the Working Committee of the People's Forum on Peace for Life, a Global South-based interfaith initiative resisting militarized globalization and has served on the Board of the Center for Women and Religion. She led delegations investigating the intersection of religion and politics to Cambodia, Vietnam, China, and the Philippines. Poethig has authored numerous essays, articles, and book chapters on subjects like the Dhammayietra (the annual peace walk in Cambodia), Filipino feminist theological frameworks, and women and peace. She holds a PhD from Graduate Theological Union, a MDiv from Union Theological Seminary, and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Chicago.
