Kevin
Vance is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the University of Notre
Dame and was a summer 2015 doctoral fellow with the Religious Freedom Project. Vance's research considers religious liberty jurisprudence from a
comparative perspective. It places the modern US Supreme Court’s religion clauses
jurisprudence in dialogue with several alternatives, including the earlier
American natural-rights approach, the Canadian Supreme Court’s approach
grounded on human autonomy, and the German Constitutional Court’s approach that
grounds religious freedom on the dignity of the human person. Vance holds an
M.A. in political science from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in
government from Claremont McKenna College.
