Rev. Kosho Niwano is the president-designate of Rissho Kosei-kai, a Japanese Buddhist movement primarily centered around the Lotus Sutra and the veneration of ancestors. She actively promotes domestic and international interreligious dialogue and engagement. She is a councilor for the Federation of New Religious Organizations of Japan, a co-moderator of Religions for Peace International, and a member of the board of directors for the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue. She is the author of The Buddha in Everyone's Heart (2013). After receiving a law degree from Gakushuin University, she studied at Rissho Kosei-kai's Gakurin seminary.
