Lauren DeVeau is the director of the Academic Language Institute at the Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University (Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya) in Lima, Peru. She is responsible for designing curriculum focused on English for academic purposes. DeVeau is also a part of the Berkley Center's Catholic Social Teaching and the Global Future of Development project. Before working in Peru, she spent three years in Quito, Ecuador working at the Center for Working Families and teaching English at the Center for Continuing Education. DeVeau also interned at PEBAL La Inmaculada, a Jesuit organization in Lima, Peru working in family counseling and on water purification projects. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Theology and Spanish as well as her M.A. in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University Chicago.
