Levi Southwind serves as the Union of Ontario Indians representative and co-chair on the Forestry Working Group of the Resource Management Council. He is a member of Sagamok First Nation, near Massey, Ontario on the north shore of Lake Huron. Southwind has held various positions in his community over the years, including band administrator, addictions counselor, health director, and director of operations. He attended primary school in the residential school system. Southwind constantly strives to protect his culture and ensure that members of his community are able to engage in the traditional practices of their heritage.
